BenchVerified

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

BenchVerified is a community-curated index of vintage audio repair professionals. This page describes what data we collect, what we don't, and how to request changes or removal.

What we don't do

  • We do not use cookies for tracking.
  • We do not share or sell your data.
  • We do not use third-party advertising networks or ad cookies.
  • We do not run cross-site trackers, fingerprinting scripts, or behavioral profiling.

What we collect

Visiting the site, BenchVerified records anonymous usage data to understand how people use the directory and to report performance back to listed technicians:

  • Pageviews and search events — pages visited, searches run, filters applied. Stored first-party on our servers.
  • An anonymous session identifier, generated in your browser and stored only in sessionStorage. It is deleted when you close the tab and is not tied to your identity.
  • A one-way hash of your IP address, used solely for coarse geography (country/region). The raw IP is never stored.
  • Your user-agent string (browser/OS identifier), for debugging and regional-browser stats.

If you contact a technician through the site, we store the email address and message you provided so the technician can reply to you. Contact events (that a message was sent) are visible to the technician as part of their listing analytics, but not the content of the message.

What listed technicians see

Technicians with a listing on BenchVerified can see aggregate data about their own listing:

  • How many people viewed their profile
  • Which searches their listing appeared in
  • How many inquiries they received

Technicians do not see individual visitor identities, IP addresses, or the content of searches tied to specific users.

Third-party services

BenchVerified is hosted and supported by the following services, each of which processes some data under their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase — database and user authentication
  • Umami Analytics — self-hosted, cookie-free traffic analytics
  • Resend — transactional email delivery when you send an inquiry
  • Cloudflare R2 — file storage for verification uploads
  • Google Places API — used by the editorial team to enrich listings with public business information
  • Pinecone, OpenAI, and Anthropic — used internally for semantic search indexing and to process scraped business information. No visitor or user data is sent to these services.

For technicians: opting out

If you are a technician listed on BenchVerified and would like your listing removed, visit your profile page and use the "Request removal" form. We verify ownership (typically by replying to the listed contact email or phone) before honoring removal requests, so please allow a few business days for the change to take effect.

You may also reach out directly at hello@benchverified.com with corrections, concerns, or removal requests.

Data retention

Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 24 months to support year-over-year trend reporting. Contact form submissions are retained indefinitely unless you ask us to delete them. Honored removal requests preserve a tombstone record (no personal data, just the fact that the listing was removed) so future automated scrapes don't re-create the entry.

Changes to this policy

This page describes our current practices. Any meaningful changes will update the date at the top of this page.
